Hot water systems, which account for a quarter of household power load, offer the biggest and cheapest solution to this mismatch by shifting water heating demand to the middle of the day, according to a new briefing note from IEEFA..

Key statistics from the Australia needs more efficient, smarter hot water systems:

♦ Hot water systems (HWS), account for about a quarter of household load.

♦ While there is abundant rooftop solar generation in the middle of the day, demand is highest in the 4pm-8pm evening peak period.

♦ Hot water systems offer the biggest and cheapest solution for this mismatch by shifting a significant amount of the demand to the middle of the day.

♦ Hot water systems in Australia should be dynamically managed, to heat when there is abundant renewable electricity.

♦ Government subsidies and standards should be updated to ensure all hot water systems sold in Australia are efficient and smart, as a futureproofing and cost-saving measure.

I can't speak highly enough of these guys. Their professionalism has been 1st class from the time I had contacted Alex at SolarWise around one month ago. I was interested in solar options for our home in Wagga. Alex popped out to our place earlier than expected, we had good chat (in simple terms as I had minimal to no knowledge on the subject) and quotes for a couple of recommended options by the end of the week. SolarWise had to rewire the entire power board and did so with minimal delay, they also removed a damaged solar panel from the grid on an old system and reconnected that system to the power supply so now we have 2 systems running at no extra cost than what was quoted, Thank you very much, i would reccomend SolarWise to anybody who needs installation or repairs done.
