Hot Water Heat Pumps
Installed System Components
Isolating Switch & Timer
An isolating switch or circuit breaker will be installed adjacent to the tank.
If a timer has been fitted, it will be located either adjacent to the tank or in the electricity switchboard.
Tempering Valve
The Tempering Valve is a safety device that allows mixing of cold & hot water to ensure a constant pre-set temperature is supplied to the building.
Duo Valve
The Dou Valve has a dual function. Firstly as a stop tap to turn off the water supply, and secondly a non return valve that stops the water flowing back into the cold pipe from the tank.
Pressure Reduction Valve
Sometimes called a Pressure Limiting Valve. It is designed to reduce incoming water pressure to a constant, predetermined level at the tank inlet.
Display/Control Panel
An LCD display that shows system status, and any error codes that may occur.
Control panel buttons are used to select display output and change settings.
The ‘Rapid Heat-up’ button activates the booster/quick recovery element for one heat cycle on WWK-222H & WWK-302H models.
Serial Number
The serial number can be located on the nameplate label, along with the model number and other specifications.
PTR Valve
The Pressure and Temperature Relief Valve is designed to relieve the increase in pressure caused by water expansion during the normal heating cycle. The valve will release drips of hot water to the drain pipe.
Display & Control Panel
The control panel consists of a display screen and four control buttons.
By default, the screen will display the mixed water volume symbol and its litre value.
The arrow button will step through additional status values and settings.
Other symbols may also appear under certain conditions.
Such as the defrost symbol or quick recovery element demand symbol.
The spanner icon may appear if there is a problem or error code on the unit.
Electric Time Switch
In most cases, an electric time switch will be installed for your heat pump.
The purpose of the timer is to control the operation of the heat pump so that it will operate during daylight hours, and therefore use energy that is produced by your solar power system.
The time switch will either be located near the heat pump unit, or in the electrical switchboard that the heat pump power circuit is connected to.
Generally, your heat pump timer will be a mechanical type, however, digital timers are also available.
Mechanical timers typically have a time setting dial and an override switch.
The override switch can have 2 or 3 positions depending on the model.
For example; ON-AUTO, ON-AUTO-OFF, ON-CLOCK-OFF
ON is indicated by the symbol I
OFF is indicated by the symbol O
